Preparing for an ITB Selection Test

You have applied to a university for admission or to a company for employment and have now been invited to take a selection test developed by ITB? Here are a few pointers on preparing for the test.

As a rule, on behalf of our customers we publish a brochure containing all the necessary information on the test. Read this brochure carefully and solve the sample items printed in it; afterwards, read the comments on the sample items.

In addition to this direct form of preparation for “your” test, you can increase your general “test wiseness”. This term refers to the mastery of certain simple strategies for taking performance tests:

  • Sensible allotment of time (Figure out the amount of time available for each item; practice keeping track of the time as you work on solving the problems.)
  • Concentration and thoroughness: Practise reading very carefully and working precisely and thoroughly. Slips of the pen also lead to loss of points.
  • In most cases you are required to enter your solutions on a separate answer sheet – only this sheet is evaluated. You can also practise handling the test sheet and the answer sheet simultaneously.
  • Identifying solution principles: The more items of a certain type you work out, the easier it will be for you to recognize the difficulty-generating principles.
