ITB-FOCUS
The digital concentration test for modern occupational assessment
Fast. Precise. Scientifically grounded
ITB-FOCUS is a computer-based concentration test for measuring attention, processing speed and error checking under time pressure. The assessment was developed specifically for use in occupational assessment and enables an efficient, standardised and objective evaluation of concentration performance.
Particularly suitable for the pre-selection and potential assessment of:
- Apprentices
- Students
- Early-career professionals
- Specialists and managers
- Duration: 10 minutes
- Content: accuracy and processing speed in routine tasks
- Result: concentration index and processing style

ITB-FOCUS at a glance

Highly efficient testing
ITB FOCUS provides highly informative diagnostic results in a test lasting just 10 minutes.

Scientifically grounded
The test was developed on the basis of established concepts from attention psychology and occupational assessment.

Digital delivery
ITB-FOCUS is browser-based, designed mobile-first, standardised and easy to scale.

Objective scoring
The test is scored automatically and against norms using the ITB-FOCUS concentration index and a graphical processing profile.

Wide range of applications
From assessment for vocational training and recruitment to higher education admissions and potential analyses, through to occupational assessment in the public sector: the test can be used in a wide range of contexts and is also suitable for large groups of applicants.

Detailed profiles
By identifying nine individual response styles, ITB-FOCUS enables a particularly clear and practical interpretation of concentration performance.
What abilities does ITB-FOCUS measure?
The test realistically reflects key demands of modern working and learning environments.

Process information quickly

Sustain attention consistently

distinguish relevant from irrelevant stimuli

work accurately even under time pressure
speed and accuracy
How the test works
Test takers complete a large number of simple decision-making tasks under time pressure.
The relevant target rules change between task blocks, requiring sustained attention and cognitive flexibility throughout.
Significantly more tasks are presented than can be completed within the available time. The focus is on the relationship between processing speed and error control.
This means that ITB-FOCUS measures not only “how quickly” people work, but above all “how efficiently” they work.
Detailed evaluation
The results are evaluated using the ITB-FOCUS concentration index and a graphical processing profile. ITB-FOCUS enables the identification of nine processing styles, such as ‘balanced’, ‘risk-oriented’ or ‘efficient’. This provides a particularly clear and practical interpretation of concentration performance.
